The Komuna Project will connect the ecotourism offer of a vast number of local communities to unexplored markets, invigorating the local economies and businesses of many families improving their living conditions in the process.

The Komuna Project is a unique and innovative initiative carried on by CEPP to invigorate local economies, create sustainable livelihoods and help protect Ecuador’s national parks and reserves.

This program is designed to connect people from all over the world with a very unique experience: Living Ecuador’s unique biodiversity and landscapes through the eyes of local people and the communities who protect them.

The Komuna Project mission is to establish ecotourism as the main economic activity in as many rural communities as possible. While doing so we hope to reduce illicit commercial activities such as poaching, illegal logging and mining, wildlife trade, and other extractive activities that are diminishing the fragile ecosystems of Ecuador.

We want to create new jobs and business opportunities for tens, hundreds and ultimately thousands of families in the years to come, but we also aim to build environmental awareness in as many communities as possible.

The project has four main components:

1. Technology innovation

2. Ecotourism promotion

3. Professional training

4. Environmental awareness
